HTML5 INI Saving Example (v1) - Single Slotdownloads: 1136 | type: zip | size: 2 MB

With Game Maker Studio and HTML5, you can no longer use Game Makers built in save functions, so this requires you to create your own saving routine. This example shows you how to save data to an INI file and load that data back in to the game. The INI file is stored on the players PC via HTML Local Storage. This version only allows one save slot per game, so if you need multiple save slots check out V2 of this example.

With Game Maker Studio and HTML5, you can no longer use Game Makers built in save functions, so this requires you to create your own saving routine. This example shows you how to save data to an INI file and load that data back in to the game. The INI file is stored on the players PC via HTML Local Storage. This version allows multiple save slots (3 in the example, easy to add more) and is a bit more complicated, so if you need only 1 save slot check out V1 of this example.

This uses a human readable list, it does not use the ds_list_write or ds_list_read functions which wtite the ds_list to a text file in an uneditable format.

Sonic Style Runningdownloads: 716 | type: zip | size: 1 MB

This example demonstrates one way of having your player start at a slow speed and gradually build to a fast run the longer the button is held, similar to Sonic the Hedgehog. No it does not include loops. It also demonstrates 2 ways of stopping, the right release will bring him to a dead stop, but running left and releasing the key will cause him to slow down to a gradual stop.

This was a classic example updated to GM:S

TheSnidrs Mode 7downloads: 653 | type: zip | size: 792 kB

This is a 3d engine not using GM’s d3d functions. Use it to emulate the SNES’ background scaling mode 7. It can also be used in oldschool maze games. Here’s my fake 3d version of Mark Overmars’ 3d tutorial, ” DOOM “

TheSnidrs Topdown\Platform Fake 3Ddownloads: 880 | type: zip | size: 164 kB

This is my w3D engine (short for wannabe 3d), a fake 3d engine perfect for platformers and topdown games. The engine is simple to use, as long as you know how to use the draw event. For full information see the original GMC topic here: http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=421418

Vertical View Lock When Fallingdownloads: 563 | type: zip | size: 24 kB

An example of how to lock the horizontal view that follows the player during certain conditions. Best described as what is seen in 2D Metroid games, where, the view follows until she goes in to the tall vertical tunnels, then it does not move left or right only up and down.

Windows simple version check without DLLdownloads: 461 | type: zip | size: 10 kB

This example shows you how to check the version of Windows an end user is running. This can be useful to limit your game to specific platforms (for example you only want the game to run on Windows 7). This does not use a DLL. It simply reads the registry key containing the Windows Build number. It does NOT write to the registry so its easy to do and perfectly harmless.
